Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a novel magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) irrigation system designed to enhance cleaning and disinfection during root canal treatment. The system utilizes controlled magnetic and/or electromagnetic fields to activate electrically conductive endodontic irrigants such as sodium hypochlorite, EDTA, or chlorhexidine within the canal space. When exposed to a magnetic field, the ionic components of the irrigant experience Lorentz forces, generating localized micrustreaming, turbulence, and shear stress that facilitate debris removal, smear layer elimination, and biofilm disruption, even in anatomically complex areas such as lateral canals and isthmuses. Unlike conventional ultrasonic, sonic, or laserassisted irrigation systems, the proposed MHD irrigation method provides non-contact, energyefficient, and thermally safe fluid activation without mechanical vibration or risk of apical extrusion. The system comprises a magnetic field generator integrated with an irrigant delivery unit, featuring pulsed electromagnetic control to regulate field intensity and flow dynamics. This invention offers a dual advantage of enhanced mechanical agitation and increased chemical reactivity of irrigants, resulting in superior canal cleanliness, improved disinfection efficacy, and reduced procedural complications. The magneto-hydrodynamic irrigation system thus represents a next-generation advancement in endodontic irrigation technology, combining principles of electromagnetism and fluid dynamics to achieve optimal treatment outcomes.
