MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096032 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Roorkee on August 08, 2026, for Magnetorheological Elastomeric Material, Article, And Method Of Fabricating The Same.

Inventors include Sharma, Varun; Kumar, Arun; and Pandey, Pulak M.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The disclosed magnetorheological elastomeric material includes a thermoplastic elastomer matrix comprising styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS), and a hard- magnetic filler comprising a plurality of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnetic particles dispersed within the thermoplastic elastomer matrix. The thermoplastic elastomer matrix forms a deformable continuous phase exhibiting thermally activated shape memory behaviour, and the dispersed neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) particles define a permanently magnetizable phase capable of retaining remanent magnetization, upon magnetization of the elastomeric material, the continuous phase and the permanently magnetizable phase being cooperatively operable to enable reversible magnetic-field-induced deformation in at least two opposite actuation directions and recovery of the material from a temporary shape to an original shape upon thermal activation.
