MUMBAI, India, Oct. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611115029 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering And Technology Niet on September 25, 2026, for Magnetically Steerable Active Colloidal Raft Micro Robot For Programmable Cargo Transport In Microfluidic Networks.

Inventors include Ved Prakash; and Pulkit Srivastava.

The application for the patent was published on October 23, 2026, under issue no. 43/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a micro robotic droplet propulsion and cargo transport system (100) comprising a composite active colloidal raft assembly (110) of rigidly interconnected functionalised Janus microparticles (111) with a ferromagnetic tag (112), confined within a host carrier droplet (115) in a microfluidic substrate (130). A multi modal actuation module (120) with a structured optical illumination sub module (121) projecting a footprint at controllable centre offset and a programmable magnetic field generator (122) cooperatively induce asymmetric time irreversible interfacial deformation for fuel free propulsion and set the raft heading. A cargo interface module (140) with stimulus responsive binding shells (113) enables reversible cargo capture and release, and a closed loop control unit (150) enforces planned trajectories through machine vision feedback. A droplet template fabrication module (160) enables scalable production, providing deterministic transport for diagnostics, targeted drug delivery and lab on a chip applications. [Figure 1]
