MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641106011 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on September 03, 2026, for Machine Learning Network Forensics For Cybercrime Investigation.

Inventors include B. Abisha; Dr. V. Sheeja Kumari; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention proposes a machine learning-based network forensic framework for cybercrime investigation designed to improve the detection and analysis of malicious activities in computer networks. The system captures network traffic data from communication devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls and processes the collected packet-level and flow-level information for forensic analysis. Feature extraction techniques are applied to convert raw network data into structured datasets suitable for machine learning models. Various machine learning algorithms are then utilized to analyze network traffic patterns and identify anomalies that may indicate cyber attacks, including unauthorized access, malware communication, and distributed denial-of-service activities. The framework classifies network behavior as normal or suspicious and automatically stores relevant digital evidence for further investigation. In addition, the system generates analytical reports to assist cybersecurity analysts and digital forensic investigators in tracing attack origins and understanding cybercrime incidents. The proposed invention enhances the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of cybercrime detection and network forensic investigation.
