Abstract: The present invention provides the conventional method for monitoring intravenous (IV) fluid infusion typically depends on manual observation, which is susceptible to human errors that may result in serious complications such as air embolism or delays in bag replacement. To tackle these issues, this paper introduces a Machine Learning-Based Smart IV Fluid Level Monitoring and Flow Rate Prediction System. This innovative system incorporates hardware components that include a load cell paired with an HX711 amplifier for accurate real-time weight measurement of the IV container, as well as an infrared (IR) reflective sensor designed to monitor the infusion process drop by drop within the drip chamber. The integration of weight data and drop counts is managed centrally by a TTGO@ESP32 CPU, which applies machine learning algorithms to effectively forecast continuous flow rates and estimate remaining infusion times.
