MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064520 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on May 21, 2026, for Machine Learning Based Los/Nlos Noise Classification For Reliable Gnss-Pnt Systems.
Inventors include Jeevanantham J; Aswath Kumar K; and Dr. Rajesh V.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: The invention presents a Machine Learning–based approach for classifying GNSS signals as Line-of-Sight or Non-Line-of-Sight using signal noise characteristics. By extracting and analyzing signal quality features, the system identifies unreliable signals affected by multipath and obstruction. The accuracy of GNSS-based positioning, navigation, and timing is improved by filtering such signals before position computation. The suggested solution is affordable, software-based, and appropriate for real-time urban navigation applications.
