Abstract: The present invention relates to an intelligent traffic management system for dynamically optimizing traffic signal operation using machine learning. The system comprises traffic data acquisition units, a preprocessing unit, a traffic state estimation unit, a machine learning prediction unit, a signal optimization engine, a traffic signal controller, and a feedback-learning unit. Real-time traffic parameters including vehicle count, queue length, vehicle speed, lane occupancy, arrival rate and waiting time are acquired from sensors and/or vision-based monitoring devices. The machine learning prediction unit processes current and historical traffic information to predict future traffic conditions and congestion levels. Based on the predicted traffic state, the signal optimization engine dynamically determines green duration, phase sequence, cycle duration and approach priority. The system can coordinate signal timings across multiple intersections and provide emergency vehicle priority. Feedback from observed traffic conditions is used to refine prediction and optimization parameters, thereby enabling adaptive traffic control and reducing congestion, queue length and vehicle waiting time.
