Inventors include Dr. J. Vengadesh Marshall Raman; and K. Vasanth.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: An M-Sand Waste Brick (MSWB), being a cement-stabilized sustainable masonry unit, and a method for its manufacture are disclosed. During the production and washing of manufactured sand (M-sand), a considerable quantity of ultra-fine washing waste is generated, which is conventionally disposed of as a waste material. The present invention utilizes this M-sand washing waste as the principal constituent of a brick, stabilized by cement as a binder. In the method, the M-sand washing waste is collected from the washing or settling system of an M-sand plant, dried, and sieved to remove oversized particles and impurities; the sieved waste is proportioned with cement, in a particular embodiment about 10% by weight, and water at a water-cement ratio of about 0.50; the constituents are mixed to a uniform mixture, placed in a mould of nominal internal dimensions 7 x 4 x 3 inches, and compacted; the formed brick is demoulded after initial setting, cured in water for 7, 14, or 28 days, and air-dried. The compressive strength of the brick increases, and its water absorption decreases, with increasing cement content, so that the strength may be selected for the intended application. The brick converts a disposal material into a useful construction product, reducing waste disposal, conserving natural resources, and supporting sustainable construction, with potential for suitable non-load-bearing masonry applications.
