The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of probiotic formulations derived from traditional fermented Ayurvedic preparations, and particularly to a lyophilized probiotic composition obtained from Takrarishta that addresses the technical problem of instability and short shelf-life of conventional liquid fermented formulations. The composition comprises a dry, free-flowing powder obtained by subjecting fermented Takrarishta to controlled lyophilization, wherein the formulation retains viable probiotic microorganisms including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species at concentrations of at least 10 colony forming units per gram, and preserves phytochemical constituents comprising phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and tannins. The method comprises fermenting a mixture comprising Takra, Yavani, Amalaki, Haritaki, Maricha, and Panchalavana at 25±2°C for 7 to 21 days, filtering the fermented liquid, freezing at -40°C to -80°C, subjecting to primary drying under reduced pressure of approximately 0.0066 mbar, and performing secondary drying to achieve final moisture content of 2 to 3%. The composition exhibits stability for at least six months under storage conditions of 25±2°C and 60±5% relative humidity, remains substantially free from synthetic preservatives and stabilizers, and is suitable for formulation as capsules, sachets, or reconstitutable powder for oral administration.
