Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence based system and method for automated screening of lung diseases from chest X-ray images and generation of patient-friendly medical screening reports. The system receives a chest X-ray image through a user interface and performs image preprocessing comprising resizing, noise reduction and image enhancement. The preprocessed image is processed by a trained deep learning model for extracting relevant image features and identifying one or more lung abnormalities including pneumonia, tuberculosis, COVID-19 related lung opacity and other lung conditions. The system generates a confidence score associated with each detected abnormality and provides an interpretation of the detected findings. An explainable artificial intelligence module optionally generates a visual map identifying image regions contributing to the model prediction. The detected findings, confidence scores and corresponding interpretations are processed by an automated report generation module to produce a structured and patient-friendly screening report comprising detected abnormalities, observations, confidence information and recommendation for consultation with a medical professional. The X-ray image, prediction results, confidence scores, interpreted findings, visual explanations and generated report are displayed through a dashboard, thereby integrating image analysis, prediction, explainability and report generation into a unified screening workflow for assisting healthcare professionals in preliminary assessment and clinical decision-making.
