MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511016973 A) filed by Sanskriti University on February 26, 2025, for Lumbar Supporting Assistive Device.

Inventors include Sumit Kumar Gupta; and Dr. Meenaksshi Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A lumbar supporting assistive device, comprising a plate 101 to position the plate 101 over lumbar portion, straps 102 that is accessed by the user to position the flap 107 in front of knees of the user, an imaging unit 103 for capturing images of the user’s lumbar, extendable strips 104 that are actuated by the microcontroller to provide extension to the strips 104 simultaneous to actuation of the hinge joints 105 to accommodate the user’s lumbar portion, pressure sensors to monitor pressure applied by the user’s knees for supporting the lumbar portion, a speaker 106 to produce a voice command to notify the user to apply the threshold pressure, a microphone 108 to receive voice command of the user regarding requirement of massage, a vibration unit to produce vibrations of a pre-set intensity to provide massaging effect to the lumbar portion.
