Abstract: The present invention discloses a low-latency distributed wireless buzzer system employing ESP32 microcontrollers and the ESP-NOW peer-to-peer wireless protocol for infrastructure-independent, sub-2-millisecond event detection across multiple participant nodes. The system introduces a dual-core master node architecture in which Core 0 exclusively handles interrupt-driven wireless packet reception and insertion into an RTOS FreeRTOS FIFO queue, while Core 1 executes a Deterministic Arbitration Algorithm (DAA) consuming packets from the queue to select the chronologically first valid winner. Two novel mechanisms are introduced: (1) the Broadcast Guard Window (BGW), a configurable temporal suppression window that prevents re-arbitration from in-flight packets arriving after winner declaration while producing a ranked secondary responder list; and (2) the Heartbeat Protocol enabling dynamic peer registration and real-time node dropout detection without system restart. Arbitration results are transmitted via UART in JSON format to an external Node-RED and Node.js WebSocket pipeline, enabling live web dashboard visualization with total end-to-end latency under 25 milliseconds.
