Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions comprising one or more sets of active material loaded porous spherical carbon particles (APCPs), wherein each of said sets of active material loaded porous spherical carbon particles has a monomodal, bimodal or multimodal particle diameter distribution, and/or a monomodal, bimodal or multimodal templated pore size distribution, wherein each mode of said particle diameter distribution defines a subset of APCPs within the set, each subset having a particle diameter dispersity (d) of 1.2 or less, and each mode of the templated pore size distribution defines a subset of APCPs within the set, each subset having a templated pore size dispersity (d') of 1.2 or less. The invention further relates to the method of production of such compositions, electrodes obtained from such compositions and their use in various applications.
