MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641069048 A) filed by V. Jayalakshmi; and Kingston Engineering College, vellore on June 02, 2026, for Low Cost Compact Mobile Water Purifier.

Inventor includes Dr. U. V. Arivazhagu.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a low-cost, compact, and portable mobile water purification system developed in the field of Environmental Engineering for providing safe drinking water in resource-constrained environments. The system comprises a multi-stage filtration unit including a fiber cotton pre-filter for removal of suspended particles, an activated carbon filter for elimination of chemical impurities and odor, and a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane for removal of dissolved salts, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants. A low-power pressurizing pump ensures continuous water flow and adequate pressure for efficient filtration, while a regulated power supply and control mechanism enable stable and energy-efficient operation. The system further includes a dedicated drainage channel for discharge of rejected impurities and a separate outlet for purified water, ensuring hygiene and preventing cross-contamination. The compact and portable design allows easy transportation, installation, and maintenance, making the system suitable for rural areas, disaster relief operations, and mobile applications. The invention provides an efficient, scalable, and cost-effective solution for improving access to clean drinking water.
