MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531026886 A) filed by Tata Steel Limited on March 24, 2025, for Low Carbon Hot Rolled Fire Resistant Steel And Method Of Manufacturing Thereof.

Abstract: ABSTRACT LOW CARBON HOT ROLLED FIRE RESISTANT STEEL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THEREOF The present disclosure relates to a steel composition comprising Carbon (C): 0.02% to 0.08%, Manganese (Mn): 0.5% to 1.25 %; Niobium (Nb):0.02% to 0.04%; Molybdenum (Mo):0.20% to 0.30%; Vanadium (V):0.08% to 0.15%; Aluminium (Al):0.03% to 0.1%; Silicon (Si):0.05 % to 0.5%; Nitrogen (N):0.007% to 0.015%; Sulphur (S):0.0001% to 0.0050%; Phosphorus (P):0.0001% to 0.030%; and the balance being Fe. The developed steel of the present disclosure exhibits maintaining yield strength greater than 230 MPa at a temperature of 600°C for an exposure time of two hours. The steel has yield strength (YS) greater than 355 MPa, Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS) greater than 490 MPa, and elongation value greater than 20%.
