Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a low-bandwidth adaptive hybrid communication and edge-predictive public transport monitoring system and method for providing reliable vehicle tracking, estimated time of arrival prediction, passenger density monitoring, and operational analytics under intermittent communication conditions. The system comprises a vehicle-mounted edge monitoring unit including a GPS module, passenger density sensor, edge processor, communication interface, and local storage buffer. The edge processor performs GPS filtering, ETA prediction, occupancy analysis, event detection, and data compression. An adaptive communication controller dynamically selects packet transmission, burst communication, SMS telemetry, or offline predictive operation based on network conditions. During communication interruptions, operational data is buffered locally while predictive monitoring continues. Upon restoration of communication connectivity, stored information is synchronized automatically. The invention significantly reduces bandwidth utilization, improves service continuity, enhances prediction accuracy, and provides a scalable monitoring solution suitable for telecom-constrained public transportation environments.
