Abstract: The present disclosure provides a locking mechanism (100) for a louvre assembly (202) of an air cooler (200). The locking mechanism (100) comprises: a first gear element (102); a second gear element (104) adapted to move between a first position and a second position and adapted to couple with the first gear element (102); and an actuating element (106) adapted to couple with the second gear element (104). The actuating element (106) is adapted to move the second gear element (104) from the first position to the second position. When the second gear element (104) is at the second position, the actuating element (106) is adapted to rotate, and when the second gear element (106) is at the first position, the actuating element (1060 is locked.
