Abstract: A locking mechanism for length adjustment of a rod is disclosed. The locking mechanism comprises a housing (2) having a hollow cavity and a hole (10) configured to receive a rod (7) having a threaded portion (6). A lock (3) having a slot portion (12) is receivable within the hollow cavity and is configured to engage the threaded portion (6) of the rod (7). The lock (3) is insertable into the hollow cavity along a first axis (A-A) substantially perpendicular to a second axis (B-B) along which the rod (7) extends. A fastening arrangement (13) comprising a bolt (9) and a nut (8) is configured to retain the lock (3) within the hollow cavity. Engagement of the lock (3) with the threaded portion (6) restrains movement of the rod (7) relative to the housing (2), and disengagement of the lock (3) permits length adjustment of the rod (7) relative to the housing (2).
