Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a locking assembly (100) for securing a cover (104) of a compartment (102) in various electrical apparatus, including switchgear. The locking assembly (100) integrates one or more interlock assemblies (108-1, 108-2), offering interchangeable mechanical and electrical locking mechanisms. A first interlock assembly (108-1) utilizes a key-operated lock (112) with a linked rod-and-lever system to facilitate locking and unlocking, while a second interlock assembly (108-2) employs a push button (116) and solenoid coil (118) for electrically controlled operation. Both first and second interlock assemblies (108-1, 108-2) are responsive to an Earth position of a disconnector switch (DS), ensuring that locking is only operable under safe conditions. The second interlock assembly further includes a knob (120) and a bypass plate (122) for emergency operations. This versatile design of the locking assembly (100) enables easy adaptation to operational requirements and enhances safety, reliability, and flexibility in securing critical components.
