Abstract: LOCAL FARMER-TO-CONSUMER MARKETPLACE ABSTRACT The agricultural supply chain in many regions continues to rely heavily on intermediaries, resulting in reduced profits for farmers and limited access to fresh, affordable produce for consumers. To address these challenges, this project introduces FarmKart, an Android-based mobile application that enables direct interactions between farmers and nearby consumers. The platform allows farmers to list freshly harvested produce with images, prices, and available quantities, while consumers can easily browse, filter, and purchase items through an intuitive interface. FarmKart incorporates a streamlined order-management system with real-time status updates such as Placed, Packed, Out for Delivery, and Delivered, ensuring transparency throughout the delivery process. Delivery may be handled by farmers for short distances or assigned delivery partners for wider reach. The app also integrates secure payment methods and a rating system to build trust between users. Designed with accessibility in mind, FarmKart provides a lightweight, user-friendly experience suited for both rural and urban regions. By enabling direct farmer-to-consumer transactions, the application promotes fair pricing, increases farmer income, and brings fresher produce to consumers. The prototype demonstrates that a digital, community-driven marketplace can significantly improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in local agricultural distribution.
