MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099123 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Roorkee on August 17, 2026, for Load Compensation Device For Maintaining Substantially Constant Vertical Load Under Settlement And Seismic Excitation Conditions.
Inventors include Maheshwari, B. K.; and Saraswat, Shantanu.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a load compensation device (100) for maintaining a substantially constant vertical load. The device (100) comprises an upper loading plate (102) configured to receive a vertical load from an external actuator and a lower loading plate (104) positioned below the upper loading plate (102) to transfer the load to a model footing or soil specimen. A plurality of compression springs (106) is disposed between the plates to compress under applied load and expand in response to settlement. One or more spring guide rods (118) maintain axial alignment of the springs and prevent buckling. Linear bearings (114) engaged with corner guide rods (116) guide relative vertical movement between the plates while restricting lateral displacement. The springs interact with the plates to compensate for settlement-induced displacement, ensuring continuous contact and maintaining a substantially constant vertical load during static and seismic excitation conditions.
