Abstract: ABSTRACT: The presentinvention relates to an Al-powered pothole detection, geospatial mapping, and crowd-sourced road hazard notification system for real-time road surface monitoring using consumer smartphones. The system comprises a Smartphone / Vehicle Sensor Unit, a Sensor Data Acquisition Unit, a Multi-Modal Predictive Layer, a Cognitive Processing Layer, an Intelligent HMI and Notification Layer, and a System History and Database. Real-time tri-axial accelerometer and GPS telemetry data are acquired and conditioned through a Pre-processing and Normalization Engine. Three parallel modules within the Multi-Modal Predictive Layer perform accelerometer impact analysis, statistical anomaly detection, and GPS geolocation mapping concurrently. Outputs from all three modules are synthesised by a Health Integrity Evaluator within the Cognitive Processing Layer to compute a composite Road Surface Health Score and severity classification.. An Automated Alert Dispatch System routes prioritised road hazard notifications to designated municipal maintenance personnel via multi-channel delivery. All confirmed road hazard records are persistently stored in a System History and Database via a feedback connection to the Cognitive Processing Layer, supporting long-term trend analysis and adaptive model improvement. The system operates continuously on consumer Android and iOS smartphones using the React Native Expo framework with Firebase Realtime Database cloud synchronisation
