Abstract: ABSTRACT LIVE-ATTENUATED VACCINE FOR SALMONELLA TYPHIMURIUM AND SHIGELLA DYSENTERIAE INFECTIONS The present invention relates to a live-attenuated bivalent vaccine for the prevention of Salmonella Typhimurium and Shigella dysenteriae infections. The vaccine is developed by constructing a chimeric polynucleotide encoding the B subunit of the Shigella toxin (StxB) into a pMS102 plasmid and transforming it into an attenuated Salmonella Typhimurium strain Z234. This recombinant strain elicits protective mucosal and systemic immune responses against both pathogens. The invention also discloses a method for preparing the vaccine using recombinant DNA technology, offering a safe, stable, and highly immunogenic solution to combat dual enteric infections.
