MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511024462 A) filed by Lovely Professional University on March 19, 2025, for Liquid Medium-Assisted Femtosecond Laser Texturing Of Solid Surfaces.

Inventor includes Dr. Sahendra Pal Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method (100) for liquid medium-assisted femtosecond laser texturing of solid surfaces. The process involves generating a femtosecond laser beam (201) from a laser source (200), which is directed and tightly focused using plurality of mirrors (202) and a convergent lens (205). The beam's average power is controlled using a variable density filter (VDF) and measured with a power meter (203). Beam polarization is adjusted with a polarizer (204) for enhanced surface interaction. A specimen (208) is placed in a small beaker (206) containing a liquid medium, forming a thin layer (207) on the surface of the specimen. The specimen is positioned on a computer-controlled stage (209), enabling translation in x, y, and z directions, allowing precise control over the laser scanning process. The liquid medium assists in debris removal, preventing re-deposition on the surface and providing a cleaner texture
