Abstract: A light irradiation device 2 has an elongated shape. The light irradiation device 2 comprises, at the leading end thereof, a light emission part that emits a laser beam in a predetermined wavelength region; and an optical member 281 that is capable of changing the direction of the laser beam. The optical member 281 irradiates, in a state of being inserted inside a lumen of a living body, biological tissue with a laser beam by changing the direction of the laser beam in a direction intersecting the long-axis direction of the light irradiation device 2. The light irradiation device 2 is capable of selectively irradiating a specific position of the living body with a laser beam emitted from a laser beam source 230A, 230B.
