Abstract: Library Management System (LMS) is a desktop application developed using Python language, Tkinter is used to create the GUI and light weight embedded database used is SQLite3. This is a system that aims to automate the traditional functions of a library such as book issuance, book returns, fines computation, stock management, member register etc. and enhance the functionality of a library. A major improvement of this system is its automatic due-date reminder in which book return deadlines are automatically reminded to the library members. All the data will be stored locally, securely and efficiently with the aid of SQlite3, and the Tkinter GUI will make it easy for the members to use as well as the librarians. This feature is achieved with a messaging system, which generates alerts through email and in-application pop- ups, to minimize overdue fines and reward prompt book returns. It is completely self-contained and does not need to be connected to the Internet or to install complex servers, which makes it suitable for local public libraries, schools and institutions. The seamless integration of message alerts provides libraries with a fresh and proactive management strategy, eliminating the need for follow-up efforts and improving user experiences. The messaging module is triggered when the scheduled checks are done on the database and when the due dates of each user are compared to the current date. It allows you to add and manage books and members easily, view the transaction history and generate reports easily.
