MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641072976 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medicaland Technical Sciences on June 12, 2026, for Laptop With Self-Healing Scratch-Resistant Body.
Inventors include Ms. R. Janani Sri; Dr. S. Jothi Arunachalam; and Dr Ramya Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: LAPTOP WITH SELF-HEALING SCRATCH-RESISTANT BODY ABSTRACT I In today's world, laptops have become a necessity for most people, whether for school, work or personal use. Because of all of the physical handling, travelling and frequent use, the surface of the laptop is very susceptible to scratches, scuffs and other forms of cosmetic damage. In addition to detracting from the overall appearance of a laptop, the presence of such surface defects can affect the durability and long-term operation of the laptop as well as the value of the laptop Performance Over Time. To combat this issue, the idea of a Laptop with a Self-Healing Scratch Resistant Body can be employed to represent a new technology for materials to provide the potential of selfrepairing minor surface damage once incurred via the application of advanced material technologies. This Self-Healing technology and materials are provided through the application of Self-Healing Polymers and Nano- Coating Materials to the exterior of the laptop housing. When small scratches or surface cracks are present on the exterior of the laptop housing, the molecular bonds of the SelfHealing Polymers are re-formed at room temperature or, if required, with the heat produced during normal operating conditions, thereby allowing the damaged area to recover over time to the original appearance of the exterior of the laptop. The addition of a Scratch Resistant Layer to the exterior of the laptop housing further protects the laptop from any damage from day-to-day use. Some of the additional advantages of the Self-Healing technology include an increase in overall life of the device, decrease in maintenance costs for the user, improved appearance of the device and greater customer satisfaction. A decrease in electronic waste due to the disposal of damaged devices is additional support for sustainability. While current consumer electronic development is just beginning with this technology, there is great promise for future laptop technology- with improved intelligence, durability, and environmental friendliness. This proposed system will provide innovative and resilient computing devices that ellA be used~ comfortably over time.
