Abstract: A laparoscopic myoma screw (100) comprising a handle assembly (102), a knob (104), a first gear (106) having a plurality of asymmetric teeth, and a second gear (108) having a plurality of asymmetric teeth. A shaft (110) connected to the second gear (108) carries a spiral screw tip (112). Rotation of the knob (104) in a first rotational direction causes meshing engagement between the plurality of asymmetric teeth of the first gear (106) and the plurality of asymmetric teeth of the second gear (108), transmitting rotation to the shaft (110) and the spiral screw tip (112). Rotation of the knob (104) in a second rotational direction causes the plurality of asymmetric teeth of the first gear (106) to ride over the plurality of asymmetric teeth of the second gear (108), maintaining the shaft (110) and the spiral screw tip (112) rotationally stationary.
