MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641055058 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education on April 30, 2026, for Knee Surgery Rehabilitation Machine For Post Operative Recovery Of Orthopedic Patient.

Inventors include Dr. S. Shasi Anand; and Dr. P. Jayakumar.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: KNEE SURGERY REHABILITATION MACHINE FOR POST-OPERATIVE RECOVERY OF ORTHOPEDIC PATIENT The titled invention discloses a knee surgery rehabilitation machine having rigid chassis (1) placed on a bed surface, supporting linear slider rails (8) and a lead screw (7) driven by a linear drive motor (12). A linear slider hub (9) engages the lead screw (7) and is slidably mounted on the rails (8), with a slider hub lock (10) for releasably locking a knee 10 supporting pad (4). A thigh resting pad (2) is pivotally connected to the knee supporting pad (4) via a knee joint pad link (5) and is further connected to a pivot (6) driven by a stepper motor (13) for angular positioning. A knee joint locking clamp (11) selectively locks the pad link (5) to the thigh pad (2). Wrapping belts (3) secure the patient's leg. A handheld remote device (14) controls speed, stroke, and angular positioning. The machine provides 15 two modes: (i) automated combined angular movement of both pads when the hub lock (10) is engaged and the clamp (11) is disengaged; and (ii) horizontal reciprocating sliding of the knee pad (4) when the clamp (11) is engaged and the thigh pad (2) is fixed at an angle. The device reduces therapist effort, ensures consistent recovery, and minimizes re-injury risk.
