MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641099930 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on August 19, 2026, for Knee Guard Pro An Advanced Wearable For Knee Alignment, injury Prevention And Performance Enhancement.

Inventors include Mr Joy Simon; Dr. S. Suji; and Dr. Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: Knee Guard Pro is an advanced smart wearable system designed to address the growing prevalence of knee injuries caused by improper alignment, repetitive strain, and biomechanical imbalances during physical activities. The device integrates a combination of inertial measurement sensors (IMU), pressure/load sensors, angular displacement tracking, and machine learning assisted motion pattern analysis to continuously monitor the dynamic behavior of the knee joint. By capturing multi-axis movement data in real time, the system identifies deviations such as valgus collapse, varus drift, excessive torsion, overextension, and uneven load distribution all of which are common precursors to ligament injuries, patellofemoral pain syndrome, and chronic wear. The wearable incorporates a microcontroller-based processing unit that executes alignment algorithms and delivers instant vibration feedback, LED-guided indicators, or audio cues, enabling users to correct their posture immediately without external supervision. This provides a major advantage for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, physiotherapy patients, and elderly individuals who require continuous monitoring but may not always have access to expert support. The ergonomic knee strap, made from breathable and stretchable fabric, ensures sensor stability while maintaining comfort during prolonged use.
