MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641105668 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Hyderabad on September 02, 2026, for Kinetic Inductance Based Miniaturized Terahertz Inductors.

Inventors include Srivastava, Yogesh Kumar; Andola, Bhawana; and Sahu, Ansuman.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an on-chip terahertz (THz) inductor 100 comprising a substrate 102, a dielectric layer 104 positioned over the substrate 102, a spiral inductive layer 106 positioned over the dielectric layer 104, and a conductive resonator layer 108 positioned on the top of the dielectric layer 104. The spiral inductive layer 106 offers geometric inductance and kinetic inductance in response to an incident terahertz electromagnetic wave to define an inductive element. The dielectric layer 104 electrically isolates the conductive resonator layer 108 from the spiral inductive layer 106 while permitting capacitive electromagnetic coupling therebetween, the conductive resonator layer 108 and the spiral inductive layer 106 defining a capacitive element, such that the capacitive element and the inductive element collectively define an LC resonant structure.
