MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611086831 A) filed by Sana Gupta on July 16, 2026, for Kidsafe: Monthly At-Home Contaminant Detection Kit For Children’s Food, Water, And Produce Safety.

Inventor includes Sana Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for household detection of contaminants in food, drinking water, and agricultural produce, and more particularly to an integrated at-home testing kit configured to enable rapid, affordable, and user-friendly screening of consumable products prior to consumption. The invention comprises a portable contaminant detection kit including a plurality of chemistry-based, single-use test strips configured for detecting milk adulterants, water contaminants, and pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables. The kit further includes a colour reference chart for visual interpretation of test results and a digital reporting interface accessible through a machine-readable code, such as a QR code. The milk test strips are configured to detect adulterants including urea, detergents, chalk powder, starch, and microbial contamination. The water test strips are configured to detect contaminants including coliform bacteria, lead, arsenic, chlorine, and other harmful substances, while the produce test strips comprise organophosphate-reactive chemistry for detecting pesticide residues present on the surfaces of fruits and vegetables. Upon contact with the respective sample, the test strips produce a visible colour change within a reaction period ranging from approximately three seconds to two minutes, enabling users to determine contamination status by comparison with the accompanying colour reference chart without requiring laboratory equipment or specialized technical expertise. In the event of a failed test, the user may upload photographic evidence through the digital reporting interface, enabling transmission of contamination reports to a centralized platform configured to notify designated regulatory authorities and generate localized community alerts. The invention may further be implemented through a subscription-based distribution model to facilitate routine household monitoring. By integrating rapid contaminant detection, intuitive colourimetric analysis, digital reporting, and community-based surveillance, the invention provides a proactive household food safety solution that enhances consumer awareness, supports regulatory oversight, and enables early identification of contaminated food and water before consumption.
