Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyherbal Rasayana composition (100) for management of emaciation, cachexia, muscle wasting and low body mass index. The composition (100) comprises twenty-nine herbal ingredients including Shatavari (1), Vidarikand (2), Sariva (3), Kaunch Beej (4), Musta (5), Mulethi (6), Kutki (7), Jatamansi (8), Ashwagandha (9), Bala (10), Varahikand (11), Vidanga (12), Draksha (13), Mudgaparni (14), Mashaparni (15), Aragvadha (16), Shisham (17), Khadir (18), Salampanja (19), Jivanti (20), Saunf (21), Elaichi (22), Vanshlochan (23), Nagkesar (24), Dalchini (25), Amla (26), Kesar (27), Rose Petal (28), and Kalmegh (29). The composition is arranged into nutritive and anabolic, digestive and metabolic corrective, antioxidant and rejuvenative, and supportive restorative herbal groups. The synergistic formulation improves digestive metabolism, nutrient absorption, tissue nourishment, anabolic activity, protein synthesis, muscle mass, body weight, biomarkers and quality of life. The composition may be formulated as powder, granules, tablet, capsule, syrup, decoction, avaleha, oral suspension, nutraceutical powder or functional food supplement.
