Abstract: This traditional saree has small checks in zari and mustard colour all over the body in rust back ground with mustard border. The special feature of this saree is that the use of five shuttles in weaving of the saree. Five shuttles are thrown simultaneously to weave and interlock the borders, weaving a thazhambu reku and pillayar moggu along the body. The saree is 5.5 meters. The warp and weft used is araku for body and mustard for border. The body has checks of mustard thread and zari of less than half inches. The highlight is the Thazhumbu reku of 1 inch and pillayar moggu of half an inch, running all through the body. Border is 8.5 inches with rettai pettu border. The designs used are Tuttiri poo, three zari lines, half pagudi. The border is also highlighted by two rows of half pagudi designs. Pallu : The thalappu is 25inches long. The Thalappu is made of simple seri lines, thazhambu reku and pillayar moggu. The inside pallu is also the same design as the outside pallu.
