Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a modified intraoral jaw opening and physiotherapy device based on a separator holding plier architecture. The device provides controlled, incremental jaw opening using an integrated ratchet locking mechanism while simultaneously enabling objective measurement of interincisal distance through a handle-based scale and moving pointer system. The device comprises two elongated arms pivotally connected by a hinge, an integrated incremental locking mechanism, and atraumatic padded working ends are adapted for placement in the anterior tooth region to ensure safe and uniform force distribution. The device allows both therapeutic stretching and quantitative assessment of mouth opening in a single instrument. A fixed calibrated scale provided on one elongated arm cooperates with a rigid pointer mounted on the opposing elongated arm, such that jaw opening achieved during use is directly and objectively displayed. By combining controlled expansion, inherent locking, ergonomic handling, and real-time measurement, the invention provides a safe, reproducible, and clinically practical alternative to conventional unmeasured mouth opening exercises such as ice-cream sticks or manual stretching techniques.
