MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641100849 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on August 20, 2026, for Irrigation Management System.

Inventors include Sundaram, Sivagama Sundari Meenakshi; and Sureshkumar, Parvathy.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system (100) and a method (600) of irrigation management. The system (100) receives multi-depth soil moisture data, environmental condition data, and crop image data from one or more sensing devices (104) and preprocesses the acquired information for analysis. A processor (102-2) of the system (100) determines crop growth stage, generates a root-zone moisture profile, estimates weather influence, analyses crop water uptake patterns, predicts future root-zone moisture conditions, and calculates irrigation requirements using trained machine learning models. The processor (102-2) generates an optimized irrigation control strategy for an actuator driver (128) by selecting irrigation timing, water application quantity, irrigation duration, and irrigation zones while minimizing runoff, evaporation, and deep percolation losses. The system (100) continuously evaluates irrigation performance, updates predictive models using feedback, refines subsequent irrigation schedules, improves water- use efficiency, and enhances crop productivity.
