MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611080590 A) filed by Chitkara University on June 30, 2026, for Iron-Activated Artemisinin-Loaded Lipid–polymer Hybrid Nanoformulation For Targeted Breast Cancer Therapy.

Inventors include Dr. Nitin Verma; Dr. Neha Bhandari; and Mr. Jatin Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an iron-activated lipid–polymer hybrid nanoformulation comprising artemisinin encapsulated within a biodegradable polymeric core and a lipid shell. The nanoformulation further comprises one or more targeting ligands selected from folate or HER2-targeting moieties. The nanoformulation possesses a particle size ranging from 50 nm to 500 nm and is configured as a sterile injectable composition. The lipid–polymer hybrid structure enhances drug encapsulation, stability, and controlled release. The nanoformulation is useful for administration in the management of breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer. Reference
