Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses an Io T -enabled smart wearable obstacle detection system designed ' . to enhance mobility and safety for visually impaired individuals. The system integrates an ultrasonic sensor for real-time distance measurement and a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor for ·detecting static and dynamic obstacles. Sensor data is acquired by a Raspberry Pi Pico W2 microcontroller a.n d transmitted wirelessly. to a Firebase cloud database via Wi-Fi. A machine ' •· learning module processes the collected data comprising distance, motion, echo time, and computed obstacle speed and classifies obstacles into risk categories: safe, warning, and .danger. Upon classification, the system triggers context-aware alerts through a dedicated mobile application and an onboard buzzer, enabling timely user response. The proposed system is . distinguislted by its ensemble learning approach using a voting classifier that combines multiple supervised algorithms, thereby achieving high classification accuracy. The invention provides a low-cost, lightweight, and portable solution ·suitable for real-world assistive technology deployment.
