Abstract: The titled invention discloses an loT-based smart medication dispensing system that integrates real-time scheduling, physiological monitoring, patient presence verification, and remote caregiver notification to improve medication .adherence and patient safety. The system comprises a microcontroller (1), a real-time clock (RTC) 10 module (2), a motorized multi-compartment pill dispenser comprising a multi- compartment pill container (3) and servo motor (4), a heart rate sensor (MAX30102) (5), an IR proximity sensor (6). Medication is dispensed only when the patient's presence is confirmed by the IR proximity sensor (6) and the measured heart rate from, the heart rate sensor (5) lies within a predefined safe range. At each scheduled 15 medication time, the system generates audible and visual alerts through the buzzer (7) and LED indicator (8) and initiates a safety verification process. If the patient is absent or abnormal physiological conditions are detected within the verification period, medication dispensing is inhibited and an emergency notification is transmitted through the Wi-Fl communication module (9) to the cloud monitoring platform (10) and 20 mobile/web caregiver application (11). The invention provides a dual-condition authorization mechanism combining temporal scheduling using the RTC module (2) with real-time biometric validation, enabling safe, automated, and remotely monitoredl medication management, particularly for elderly and chronically ill patients requiring supervised drug administration.
