MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621082750 A) filed by Symbiosis International Deemed University on July 03, 2026, for Iot-Sensor Assisted Upi Fraud Detection System With Device Behavioural Fingerprinting.

Inventors include Dr. N. A. Natraj; and Dr. Madhavi Damle.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT IOT-SENSOR ASSISTED UPI FRAUD DETECTION SYSTEM WITH DEVICE BEHAVIOURAL FINGERPRINTING The present invention discloses a UPI transaction fraud detection system (100) combining device-side IoT sensor behavioural fingerprinting with server-side transaction anomaly scoring. A mobile device module (110) captures accelerometer (112), gyroscope (114), and ambient light sensor (116) readings during transaction initiation. A device behavioural fingerprinting module (120) computes a behavioural anomaly score by comparing current sensor patterns against an enrolled user behavioural baseline (122). A server-side transaction scoring module (130) evaluates transaction metadata features. A risk fusion engine (140) combines both scores into a composite fraud risk score. When the composite score exceeds a configurable threshold, a step-up authentication module (150) is triggered. A cloud fraud platform (160) maintains a tamper-evident fraud event log (162) for regulatory reporting and machine learning model retraining (164). The enrolled baseline updates incrementally after each confirmed legitimate transaction using an exponential moving average. [
