Abstract: The project in question is referred to as an IoT Enabled Water Purification System to Solapur Smart City and it provides a new and automated method of real-time monitoring and control of the water quality. The issue of safe drinking water remains a burning problem in cities and semi-urban areas as pollution, lack of constant monitoring and slow response to pollutants are the aspects that contribute to the problem. These issues will be addressed by the system using a mix of IoT-based sensory, cloud computing, and data- driven decision-making. This system suggests deployment of water quality sensors that could check the concentration of such key parameters of pH, turbidity and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). These sensors will be attached to a microcontroller (ESP8266/Arduino) which will fetch and transmit data to a cloud based system which would be used to monitor and analyze the data in real time. The system compares the water quality to set safety standards to ascertain whether it is fit to be consumed. In case the water is found to be contaminated, the water system gives alarms to the local authorities, and the purification procedures can be performed as early as possible. The treated water is re-tested to ensure that it meets the safety requirements and stored in a clean water tank and distributed to the people. Historical information is also stored in the system and this enables the authorities to study the trends, patterns of contamination and enhance better water management strategies. A scalable and efficient IoT system is implemented to ensure full monitoring, remote access, and least human intervention. The experimental implementation proves to be reliable in terms of detecting the changes in the water quality and alerting in real-time, which minimizes some of the health hazards related to the contaminated water. The project highlights the potential of smart water management systems that employ a low-cost and sustainable solution to urban infrastructures by using IoT. It has been instrumental in smart city development as it provides safe water, enhances the performance of cities, and promotes data-oriented governance in Solapur.
