MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621079604 A) filed by Symbiosis International Deemed University on June 27, 2026, for Iot-Enabled Water Leakage Detection And Automated Valve Shutoff System.
Inventors include Dr. N. A. Natraj; and Dr. Pankaj Pathak.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT IoT-ENABLED WATER LEAKAGE DETECTION AND AUTOMATED VALVE SHUTOFF SYSTEM The present invention provides an IoT-enabled water leakage detection and automated valve shutoff system (100) for residential and commercial plumbing networks. The system comprises ultrasonic clamp-on flow sensor nodes (110) mountable on existing pipework without pipe cutting, pressure sensor nodes (120), capacitive moisture sensor nodes (130) at high-risk locations, motorised isolation valves (140) with manual override on each circuit branch, and an edge gateway (150) hosting a leakage detection and classification module (180). The module applies anomaly detection and a gradient boosting classifier evaluating flow rate, rate-of-flow-change, pressure differential, time-of-day, and day-of-week to classify events as Leakage, Legitimate Demand, or Uncertain. Confirmed leakage triggers immediate valve actuation and multi-channel alerts. A cloud platform (160) provides circuit-level dashboards, audit reports, and over-the-air classifier model updates. [
