Abstract: The present invention provides an IoT-enabled smart home automation and energy management system for intelligent monitoring, prediction, optimization, and control of residential energy consumption. The system comprises IoT sensing devices, appliance-level energy monitoring modules, occupancy monitoring and prediction modules, an energy demand prediction module, a load classification module, a power availability module, and an adaptive energy optimization engine. The system acquires occupancy, environmental, appliance, and electrical consumption parameters and generates predicted energy demand based on historical usage and real-time conditions. The optimization engine dynamically controls appliances according to load priority, occupancy, electricity tariffs, renewable energy availability, energy storage status, and user-defined comfort constraints. The system further detects abnormal consumption and energy wastage and learns from user overrides to refine future control decisions. An edge-cloud architecture enables local operation during network interruptions, thereby providing adaptive, resilient, and energy-efficient smart home automation.
