MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641097962 A) filed by Sri Eshwar College Of Engineering on August 12, 2026, for Iot-Enabled Multi-Mode Smart Helmet For Real-Time Worker Safety And Health Monitoring System.
Inventors include Mr. B. Gokulavasan; Ms. Durganandhini V; and Ms. Kavinaya S.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The current invention is associated with the intelligent IoT-based wearable safety device that is aimed at providing real-time tracking and safety of the person who is operating in the unsafe area like the mining, construction, and transportation industry. The system unveils a multi-mode smart helmet platform which incorporates environmental sensors, physiological monitoring modules, motion sensors and wireless communication in a small and energy efficient device utilizing a dual- microcontroller system that has ESP32 and ESP8266 and delivers effective data-gathering, processing, and communication. The parameters that the helmet constantly measures include temperature, humidity, concentration of hazardous gases, heart rate, and oxygen saturation (SpO 2 ), and the inputs are handled by an adaptive threshold-based system that notifies of abnormal or dangerous conditions. The invention also has the dynamic multi-mode features such as Mining Mode, Construction Mode, Rider Mode and the Health Monitoring Mode which enables the system to be configured to fit the various operation environments. The system generates real- time data and sends them to a cloud-based platform via wireless communication to monitor the critical event remotely and respond to the emergency when critical events (gas leakage, abnormal vital signs, impact or fall) are detected and transmitted with local indicators. The suggested system has low latency, high reliability, and efficient power consumption, thus can be used in the continuous operation, and provides a scalable and cost-effective method to improve the safety and health monitoring in several spheres, such as industrial safety, smart transportation, and emergency management systems.
