MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611088047 A) filed by Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College on July 18, 2026, for Iot-Based Water Consumption Monitoring And Leak Detection System And Working Method Thereof.

Inventors include Tanvee Saxena; Pari Jain; Krishna Agarwal; and Dr. Ruchira Goel.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an IoT-based water consumption monitoring and leak detection system and working method thereof. The system (100) comprises a sensing module (110), an edge processing module (120), a communication module (130), a network/gateway interface (140), a cloud analytics platform (150), a storage database (160), an anomaly and leak detection engine (170), a user interface module (180), and optionally an actuation and flow-control module (190). The sensing module (110) acquires real-time flow and associated water parameters, while the edge processing module (120) performs local preprocessing and preliminary anomaly detection before securely transmitting data through the communication module (130) and network/gateway interface (140) to the cloud analytics platform (150). The anomaly and leak detection engine (170) cooperates with the storage database (160) to perform adaptive leak detection using historical and real-time data, generates alerts through the user interface module (180), and selectively actuates the flow-control module (190) for automatic leak isolation, thereby reducing water loss, communication overhead, detection latency, and false alarms.
