MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064131 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology Tiruchirappalli on May 21, 2026, for Iot-Based Waste Bin Monitoring And Notification System.

Inventors include Tharunigha J P; and Dr. M. Madhan Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an IoT Based Waste Bin Monitoring with Notification System designed for real-time monitoring of garbage levels. The system utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to measure the fill level of a waste bin and an ESP32 microcontroller to process the sensed data. Based on predefined threshold levels, the system classifies the bin status and transmits notifications to the concerned authority when the bin reaches a warning stage. When the bin becomes completely full, an urgent notification is generated along with activation of a local buzzer. The invention provides an efficient, automated, and cost-effective solution for smart waste management and improved collection efficiency.
