The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an IoT-Based Vehicle Accident Detection and Emergency Alert System configured to automatically detect road accidents and provide immediate emergency assistance through real-time communication technologies. The system comprises a programmable microcontroller, an accelerometer sensor, a vibration sensor, a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, a Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) module, an IoT communication interface, a display unit, and an alert generation mechanism. The accelerometer and vibration sensor continuously monitor vehicle movement and impact conditions to identify accident events. Upon confirming a collision, the microcontroller acquires the geographical coordinates of the vehicle through the GPS receiver and automatically transmits an emergency notification containing the accident location to predefined emergency contacts using the GSM communication module. Simultaneously, the accident information, sensor readings, location coordinates, and operational status are uploaded to a cloud-based IoT platform for remote monitoring, data storage, and analysis. The invention improves accident detection accuracy through multi-sensor validation, minimizes false alarms, enables rapid emergency response, and facilitates continuous remote monitoring. The integrated architecture provides a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective solution suitable for passenger vehicles, commercial transportation, fleet management systems, and intelligent transportation infrastructures.
