MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641056883 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences on May 05, 2026, for Iot Based Smart Wi-Fi Plug With Power Monitoring And Protection Using Blynk App (smart Plug).

Inventors include Abdul Azeez S; Dr. R. Geetha; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.

Abstract: The invention proposes an loT-based Smart Wi-Fi Plug system for wireless control and monitoring of electricity used by the connected appliances. The system allows devices to be ON/OFF through a mobile app called Blynk along with a time controller that can automatically turn on/off devices. In this smart plug system, values of voltage currents and powers are displayed through mobile apps as well as a display unit by continuously measuring these values. This smart plug is fitted with a fuse/MOV for improved safety. The microcontroller continuously monitors the supply voltage and supply current. The microcontroller tests if it has exceeded the safe limit or if it has fallen below the safe limit. After that, the microcontroller will disconnect power to the load immediately. If it has exceeded the safe limit, then this shall happen. Overload/overcurrent shall also result in an immediate disconnection of the relay by the microcontroller. The invention provides an efficient, economical, durable, and safe smart pl^.n
