MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101576 A) filed by St. Josephs College Of Engineering; and Mr. S. Sivakumar on August 22, 2026, for Iot Based Smart Grass Cutter Robot With Environment Monitoring And Live Surveillance.

Inventors include St. Josephs College Of Engineering; Mr. S. Sivakumar; Bhavani P; and Asumathasan M.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The present invention presents an IoT-Based Smart Grass Cutter Robot that integrates wireless directional control, real-time environmental monitoring, and live video surveillance in a single low-cost embedded platform. The system is centered on the ESP32 microcontroller, which hosts a web server enabling browser-based control of DC drive motors and a grass cutting blade motor through an L298N dual H-bridge motor driver. A DHT11 digital sensor continuously monitors the ambient temperature and relative humidity of the operational field, transmitting real-time readings to the web-based dashboard without any cloud dependency. An ESP32-CAM module independently streams live MJPEG video to the operator's browser, enabling remote field inspection and supervision without physical presence at the site. The complete system is assembled at a total hardware cost of under INR 2,500, operates entirely over a local Wi-Fi network without GPS or internet connectivity, and requires no dedicated mobile application. Experimental validation confirms a control response latency below 200 milliseconds, sensor accuracy within the specified tolerance of ±2°C and ±5% RH, an area coverage efficiency of 92.4%, and a battery runtime of approximately 45 minutes under full motor load. The modular and scalable architecture of the system supports future enhancements including ultrasonic obstacle detection, GPS-guided autonomous path planning, AI-based crop disease detection, pesticide spraying integration, and solar-powered operation for extended field deployment.
