Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an IoT-based sewage monitoring system for real-time monitoring of sewage pipelines and manholes. The system comprises an ESP32 microcontroller, ultrasonic sensor, gas sensor, proximity sensor, load cell, and wireless communication module for continuously monitoring sewage level, toxic gas concentration, sewage cover status, structural damage, and blockage conditions. The controller processes sensor data, compares it with predefined thresholds, identifies abnormal conditions such as overflow, gas leakage, and cover damage, and transmits the information to a cloud platform through Wi-Fi, GSM, or LoRa communication. Automated alerts are generated and sent to municipal authorities through web dashboards and mobile applications. The invention improves sanitation worker safety, reduces manual inspection, enables predictive maintenance, prevents sewage overflow, and supports smart city infrastructure with a scalable and cost-effective solution.
